It all began on Wednesday evening. Miss Nikita was grumpy as anything whilst I was organising dinner. I thought she must just be hungry, and hurried up in the preparing of it. The rest of the evening progressed as usual, baths, bottles, bed, stories, clean up and then some quiet time for Mummy, playing on the computer.
About 9.30/10pm Nikita's crying in bed. This lasted about 2-5 minutes and wasn't too distressed, but unusual. So I went to bed with one ear open.
Sure enough 1.30/2am real tears. I went down & got her & brought her up to my bed so Sasha wouldn't get disturbed. I think I brought some cloth nappies with me - can't remember.
It's all a bit of a blur since then. There's been spew (not a lot thank goodness), there's been super hot high temperatures, there's been shaking/trembling, there's been listlessness. There's been lots of cuddles & snuggles & sleeptime together.
We've been to the doctor - twice even. Yesterday, whilst there her temp was over 39oC and so he asked if we could come back today for a follow up. Today her temp's down again & the grumbling has begun. "It's just a virus, give her panadol &/or Nurofen" says the doc. I feel like the typical, over-the-top mum. Although I wasn't really worried, just wanted to clear that there was no ear infection as Nikita & I are both recovering from a cold the previous week.
At the peak of the 'just a virus' her temps on the thermometer at home were 39.9oC & 39.4oC, but I think this must indicate that she was over that as I don't really trust my home one as all that accurate - it seems to measure low. Maybe I'll take it along next time & compare results.
Most of the past few days for Nikita has been spent on the couch a la photo, with just a nappy on, wrapped in a towel (for easy removal in case of spew or temperature) & a cloth nappy to catch any mess too.
Sasha's been most solicitious of her dollies & I've had to duplicate my efforts to ensure her dollies are okay too.
Thank goodness neither Sasha nor I seem to be getting it. Daddy's coming home tonight & tomorrow's Mother's Day, so all looking good now!
