School Holidays - Day 1 to 4

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLENE!!!! I hope you've had a lovely day & I'm glad I got a chance to speak with you today. We're looking forward to seeing you & your beautiful family on Sunday & I might just get my act into gear & whip up a card between now & then - if I think of it!!

Okay, so I thought I'd keep a little record of what we've been up to for the holidays in the hopes that I'll remember what we did with our time & to keep me motivated to keep doing things with the kids during the winter break. So here it is....

Saturday - went to shops & then NannaJays to work out how to use her brand new SatNav systems she's bought for her car. We then took a drive around to see if it would tell us where to go & how to get home to her place again.

Sunday - the girls & I went to Success Park for a play in the morning. Then home for lunch & a ride around the High School carpark. Then the girls played on the road (under my watchful eye for traffic) & had a chat with some of the kids in the street. Shortly after we'd gone inside to get ready for dinner the young girl from a few doors up came & knocked & asked if she could come & play. So in she came & played with Sasha & Nikita for about 20mins or so. Was really nice as I think S & N have wanted to play with her forever. Her name's Kirra & she's 7 & in Grade 2, so there's a school year between her & Sasha. I think she's been waiting for some girls in the street to play with too & although she's so grown up in comparison to my two, they still play dollies & skipping happily together. :D

Monday - Sasha, Nikita & I took the train to Perth & went to visit the Museum. Much of it was amazing - the dinosaur exhibit took Nikita's breath away - she was very nervous about the largest mdoel. The butterfly room was just spectacular. I don't remember seeing that last time we went a few years ago. The colours, patterns, sizes & shapes are just incredible. Sasha's learning about 'minibeasts' next term at school, so I dare say we'll go back to the museum again these holidays for another look. (Plus David couldn't believe that we went to the museum without him ). And both girls amazed me with their recognition of various animals - Nikita knew what a bison & a moose were & I have no idea how. Sasha correctly identified a skeleton of a hippopotamus. She also didn't mind any of the skeletons except for the human skeleton - that was scarey. lol After that was all done we had lunch in the city & caught the train home for afternoon sleeps. Then we picked Daddy up at the airport at 6pm.

Today we went to Malaga for David to drop off his paperwork. Then we went to Burswood & had a picnic lunch & a ride along the river in both directions. Being the last fine day for a while we thought this would be a good idea to make the most of the sun. Was good fun & quite peaceful down there. There weren't too many professional cyclists racing past which was a good thing as Sasha & Nikita haven't quite got the 'keep left' thing down pat yet, especially if they're not looking where they're going!!! Then we came home for afternoon sleeps & I did some mundane housework tasks too.

So that's the holidays so far!! I've got a few more things on the list - will have to see how the budget copes too.

Sounds like you've been having a lovely time. I loved the school photo of Sasha. I used to be best friends at school with a girl that looked like that!!
