Little Miss Cutie Patootie

Nikita has started toilet training (again).

She went great guns for a few weeks in Summer. So good that I got rid of her change table. Then she decided that she still wanted to wear knickers & absolutely refused to use the toilet.

Well, we decided that during the next school holidays, that was it. Out with the nappies!! I was intending to go completely 100% cold turkey, even at night. Crazy huh!

Well anyway, on Sunday just gone, she woke early from her afternoon nap. I discovered her butt naked on her way back to the laundry with a wet cloth nappy. She'd taken her nappy off, done a wee on the floor & then cleaned it up herself.

So okay, we started with the knickers that afternoon. She's been doing really well, using the toilet for lots of wees.

Monday night she was determined to sleep in knickers. I agreed to it. She went to the toilet before bedtime. By 9pm I was in there changing her bedding. I took her to the toilet, put fresh pjs on and then she sat on the floor whilst I made up her bed. All the time we were discussing that she could wear knickers again, but if she had another accident, then she'd have to wear nappies to bed. When the bed was made, she stood up & had done another wee. So nappies on. NOT happy Jan!!

Anyway Tuesday was a good day. I had to drop Sasha at kindy, and then do the grocery shopping. Nikita stayed at home with David. When I got home, I was greeted with the news that Nikita has taken herself to the toilet - all by herself!! David found her when she was just washing her hands.

She then also had her afternoon nap in knickers with no accidents!! Yahoo!!

She hasn't done so well in the poo dept. And I've gotta say, poo accidents are just gross. Worse than nappies, because you have to clean the knickers as well as the bum. No poos in the toilet.

Today, Wednesday, we had swimming lessons in the morning, so I was pretty nervous about what we might encounter in the pool. But all was good.

It's now waaaay past bedtime & she's been messing about for ages. I've just found her in the hallway, with no shirt on. Before I could say anything, she said she wanted to do a wee. So I humoured her and took her to the toilet. Her pull-ups were heavy & wet. Next thing I know, she's done a huge poo on the toilet. What a marvel!!

OMG I'm so excited, yet still in a bit of disbelief that this might actually be the end of nappies. Admittedly that first night scared me off from night training for now. Especially as Sasha was a night training legend & we had it really easy with her. But I think I'll say to Nikki that if she can go with no accidents for 3 days straight, we'll try the knickers at night again.

Please let this be it, please let it be this easy, please give me strength & PATIENCE to get this done!! It has to be done. I want to get her enrolled in 3yr old Kindy as soon as they'll take her as I know she'll love it & get so much out of it.
