Farewell Old Boy

Today was a very sad day, especially for my sister and her family. Their beloved dog, Benson, was put to sleep at 11am.

Yesterday he suffered a number of massive seizures from which he'd been unable to recover.

At 13 he'd led a life full of love and happiness. He was truly blessed with a loving family. Christiian took him everywhere, including work every day. He slept in Larissa and Christiian's bedroom every night. He was just a constant in their life and an adored member of their family.

He accompanied his family camping, fishing, triathlons, picnics. He's been cuddled and kissed and had food given to him by 100s of children. He's joined the men at the BBQ as they drank their beers and discussed the latest sports. He's hung around the women, who would give him absent minded pats as they sorted out the world.

Grace is going to miss her big, black, gentle playmate.

I remember when Benson was just a pup and fell asleep with his head resting on my foot, in the Beaconsfield house. He was just so cute and adorable as only black labradors can be.

Thankfully he has not suffered long and is now resting peacefully. My heart goes out to Larissa, Christiian, Grace & Samuel tonight. A house full of people, yet it still feels empty. Benson Beeson - gone, but never ever forgotten, and always loved!!
