When I took the girls to swimming on Wednesday, they got their re-enrolment forms. I've been really pleased with how well both of them are doing in their lessons, in different ways.
Sasha's maybe not as proficient as Nikita, but she's a fabulous listener and pays great attention during her class. She swims on her own with her teacher & 3 other pupils in the shallow part of the pool (she can just touch the bottom).
Nikita, being the typical free spirit that she is, is super confident, and has great ability, but doesn't really pay so much attention. Anyway, her teacher has graduated her and one other child to Toddler Transition. Most of the time, kids get graduated on age rather than ability, but her teacher felt that she would get bored doing this lesson again next term. Normally Toddler Transition is for 3-4 yr olds, and she's only just turned 2.5!! (I'm so proud of her!!) So Toddler Transition, here we come!! It will be interesting to see how she goes. I start the term in the water with her, but by the end of term, she should be swimming with her teacher on her own. I'm not worried about her being in the water without me as we do lots of independent play after the lessons anyway. I just hope that she will learn to listen & do what she's told by the teacher like her big sister can & does.
Both girls made a big breakthrough with their goggles the other week where they actually looked through them underwater and were amazed that they could see!!! So funny when they do make such a leap forward.
So, anyway, I guess I should enjoy what remains of this chapter of parenting where we need to be in the water learning with them as it's almost over already. (as a side note, when David is home & takes Nikita to her lesson, I thoroughly enjoy sitting on the sidelines watching the girls learning - it's amazing the things that you miss when you are actually in the water with them).
